4/2/2018: There can be a deception without there being a lie. The best example I know of is the following. A person may say that god spoke to them to take a certain action. It could be true, but they need to know what god was speaking. For instance the devil is the god of this world. He is legitimately so. (2 Corinthians 4:4) One of his roles is to deceive.

Therefore, it is not a lie if the devil delivers a message indicating it is god speaking. It is a spiritual impression, but not the Holy Spirit, the God of the Universe, the Lord of Hosts or Jesus.

This is commonly seen when a person murders their family and says god told them to do it. It was the god of this world, the devil. It does not match the Word of God that says not to murder.

So what ever we believe we hear from god, must match the Word of the one True God. There will be a biblical match. Also, we must use the Spirit of Discernment to consistently do the right thing.
