3/31/13: Jesus Christ is a tangible reality. Really? Yes, really! In fact Almighty God went to great lengths to make Himself a tangible reality for whosoever desires such a relationship. (Romans 10:13) God announced ahead of time about Jesus the Christ. (Isaiah 9:6). So many other prophecies were fulfilled, a few of which were: He was to be born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:1-2) He was to be born of a virgin. (Isaiah 7:14) He was to take the sin of mankind on his body. (Isaiah 53:3-6).
As I go on, I realize again the contention I have made so many times that the Bible is unbelievable. If unbelievable then why believe it? The challenge is to test the hypothesis that the sum of what is written is true. (Psalm 119: 160) Faith is nothing more or nothing less than agreement with the written Word to the extent one will act upon it. (James 1: 22-23)
Recently on television Bill O’Reilly was contending much of the Bible is not true, but allegory which is able to illustrate a principle. However, being a Roman Catholic he was unable to respond to the questioning of whether the Virgin birth fell into the same category. Sorry Bill, no spin zone.
Jesus is not a allegory, but a real historical person. More that that, He was and is who He said he was and is. (Romans 13:8) In addition, I have confirmation of the Jesus the Living Word in my life in so many occasions.
Today on Easter, those who are my age may be reminded of the ancient hymn, long forgotten in a present day Sunday service. You might look up the simple melody of I serve a Risen Savior at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9vwk-3RzOI
I serve a risen Saviour,
He’s in the world today;
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.
####Chorus:
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives
today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.
In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And tho my heart grows weary
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading
Thro’ all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.
