8/15/2014: God’s Promises may be unconditional, yet some are conditional. The promise in prophetic form was unconditional when God promised Abraham that he was going to be the father of many nations (people). Abraham and his wife were beyond the child bearing age. This happened in spite of the recorded short comings of Abraham.
In Deuteronomy it documents blessings and curses that are conditional. It says “If” before each one.
The purpose of the unconditional is to demonstrate God’s faithfulness and character. The purpose of the conditional is to give the believer an opportunity to demonstrate their faithfulness and character.
