8/7/12: That’s the way it works is the repeated lyrics of a secular song. It has for some reason been repeating in my mind last few days. So I am asking, what is this about. It occurred to me today to give this explanation. The Holy Spirit works in our lives by our agreement to act according to the Word of God and then God makes it happen. That’s the way it works! To clarify, we recognize our lack to line up with the Biblical instructions or desires for us. We agree. We are willing for the change. However, we do not have the power to make it happen or work. That is the moment that the Holy Spirit comes in and causes the desired result. That’s the way it works. The supporting scripture is “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, thus sayeth the Lord” (Zec 4:6).
I thought I was supposed to do it. No. We are not able. We just must sincerely want the change. God does the work in us. That’s the way it works.
